AZ sheriff Joe Arpaio ordered to fix ‘unconscionable’ jail conditions

This story is an example of why you need to know your rights.  Sometimes law enforcement goes too far.  In this case, people detained before trial were treated like crap.  This is a big win for the ACLU and people being held in Arizona before trial.  It will also help convicted inmates that were held in violation of their constitutional rights.
The Sheriff's Office of Maricopa County has also been accused of surveying potential political rivals.

"Deputy Chief Frank Munnell alleges that the department's number-two officer, Chief Deputy Dave Hendershott, used the department's anti-corruption unit to spy on political rivals," Raw Story reported in September.

  1. "The sheriff has succeeded in creating a climate of fear in Arizona's migrant community, but he is also being watched very closely by the federal government."

The word MIGRANT should be replaced with Illegal Migrant. Anyone with an Arizona ID or driver's license or other government issued ID need not worry.

  2. The Youtube video is pretty cheesy.

"Women can't be trusted to make decisions about their body." They can get all the silicone they want. They can change their hair color or whatever. But kill a baby? No.
Why do libs want convicted child murderers protected from the death penalty but they are ok with killing babies? What a warped philosophy.

You could say the perfect opposite about the Democratic Party.

“I’m voting Democrat because I like being broke and paying high taxes because if I can’t afford to pay, it’s ok because the rich have too much money and should share.
I’m voting Dem because what is yours is mine.
I’m voting Dem because I think it’s ok for Muslims to kill 4000 people.
I’m voting Dem because the 2nd amendment to the constitution was a mistake which need to be removed.
I’m voting Dem because I like having to use 5 gallons of gas to go to 6 stores instead of 1 gallon of gas going to one store.
I’m voting Dem because government isn’t big enough.
I’m voting Dem because I like more regulations.
I’m voting Dem because I want my child to think its perfectly fine for a woman to lick the vagina of another woman or for a man to suck semen out of another man’s penis.
I’m voting Dem because I don’t want to take responsibility for my immoral behavior.
I’m voting Dem because I want to share a joint with my teen.
I’m voting Dem because I want rich people to take care of my bills.
I’m voting Dem so I don’t have to work hard to achieve mediocrity.
I’m voting Dem because I want to be just like Europe.
I’m voting Dem because ALL corporations are evil unless they are not-for-profit corporations which get the same freedoms as other corporations and are LESS accountable.
I’m voting Dem because competition is evil.
I’m voting Dem because…(tired of typing)

  4. Anonomymous, consider this:
    Thom Hartmann said on Thursday:
Alternet has an article today up “Why Germany Has It So Good — and Why America Is Going Down the Drain” by Terrence McNally. While the headlines about strikes, terrorism, and Islamophobia in Europe are making the the news in the US, we hearing nada about how the European Union – 27 member nations with around half a billion people, a third larger than the US – has become the biggest, wealthiest trading bloc in the world, producing nearly a third of the world’s economy — outdoing the US and China combined. Europe is now home to more Fortune 500 companies than either the US, China or Japan. The European Union spend much less than America for universal healthcare rated by the World Health Organization as the best in the world, while the U.S. health care system is ranked at a measly 37th and 40 million Americans have no access to health care other than the ER. Europe leads in tackling global climate change and is twice as energy efficient as the US, creating hundreds of thousands of new jobs in the process. Their ecological “footprint” (the amount of the earth’s capacity that a population consumes) is around half that of the United States for a similar standard of living. Americans work much longer hours than Europeans – “on average we work the equivalent of nine extra 40-hour weeks per year.” According to Thomas Geoghegan who wrote the book, “Were You Born on the Wrong Continent?,” “Germany has created a high-wage, unionized economy without shipping all its jobs abroad or creating a massive trade deficit, or any trade deficit at all. And even as the Germans outsell the United States, they manage to take six weeks of vacation every year. They’re beating us with one hand tied behind their back.” He added, “Since 2003, it’s not China but Germany, that colossus of European socialism, that has either led the world in export sales or at least been tied for first.”

Do we want to be succesfull as workers and
citizens or do we want to be more like China?

  5. Anonymous, why are republican so obsessed with sex? Democrats and independents have it but I think that republicans just need to get laid.

  6. Anon, you're party was in charge when we were attacked on 9/11. They did not keep us safe. They used that as an excuse and yes it was an excuse to go back to Iraq. We killed countless babies and women and other children in our name. That's your name buddy. You are more complicit in the killing of babies that those that did not support the war.
You have just made the argument against your own thinking. Think next time you post on this blog.

The dems voted right along side the repuglicans to go into Iraq. Don't put all the blame on one party when there were at least two with their hands in the oil. Let's not forget that low oil/fuel prices helps car sales which in turn supports all of the Detroit manufacturing jobs which the Dems promise to protect. I was not a Dem on 9/11 until I watched the first plain piloted by a muslim fly into the first tower. Religion of Peace...MY ASS!

  8. Not all dems are social dems. Many of them are blue dogs.
High fuel prices promote green tech. Low fuel prices keep us complacent.

Iraq was not a religious country until we blew it apart. There is no connection between 9/11 and Iraq. There is a connection between Bush and Iraq. Bush had planned an invasion of Iraq before 9/11 and even before he was appointed president. Look it up.

You say you saw Muslims fly a jet into a building? You could see who was at the controls? Really? The 19 hijackers that supposedly did this had no plane tickets or boarding passes. How do you suppose they got on the plane unnoticed?
I never called them a religion of peace because only the Buddhists can claim that. All of the religions of Abraham are religions of war.

  9. Why did you delete and sensor my comment?

Low fuel prices keep union automotive jobs in Detroit. Senate Bill 32 (SB32) will cause fuel prices to rise to more than $9.00 per gallon. Each of us will be taxed $4,000 per year EXTRA to use highways. I'm surprised there isn't an outright law against gas stations.

There are voice messages that were left by those on the jets to their loved ones telling them what was happening, a play by play of the murders.

There is plenty of video of the hijackers showing their boarding passes as they boarded the jets. I suppose those were all filmed on the same sound stage as the lunar landing...

  10. I did not censor your comments. There were two comments that did not make it to the blog, I answered you and that is also missing. Not sure what to make of that. Must be somewhere on the lunar landing sound stage.

I do remember you leaving another post and I remember pointing out that according to the lead scientist at the Natural Resources Defense Council, a study by EPA found that for every dollar spent cleaning up dirty diesel engines we save 13 dollars in health care costs.

That is unless you and I were both having the same dream? I checked the spam filter bin and they were not there either.
    Strange.
About the video you say exists. It didn't last time I looked for it. Could you post a link to that? It could be an answer to many of my questions about 9/11. Like why there were 12 people unaccounted for on United flight 93 and 9 people unaccounted for on United flight 175, 8 people unaccounted for on American Airlines flight 77 that went into the Pentagon and 5 people unaccounted for on American Airlines flight 11.
I count 34 unaccounted for and the FBI counts 19 hijackers. Who were the other 15?

  11. What evidence is there that 19 people used fake id's under assumed names? Or 34 people for that matter. Maybe it's in the flight manifests but have you looked at them to see for yourself?
