101 Closed At Elk River Due To Accident

A traffic accident has both north bound lanes of US 101 at Elk River just south of Eureka closed this afternoon.  I got a report of two vehicles overturned blocking both lanes.  The accident took place about 11:45 am today and as of 12 :10 pm the north bound lanes are still closed with traffic backed up about a half a mile.

  1. It is a good sign that traffic is moving north again at 12:15 pm. This means there were no fatalities.

  2. I meant to write "hopefully" this means there are no fatalities. The computer I am on is so slow you can't see what your are typing until a minute or so later. My laptop and phone are so much faster.

  3. Couldn't help but notice the T-S feed has it as "the 101". Wonder what part of SoCal that person is from?

  4. Yeah, I used to call it the 101 and I-5 etc. I still do sometimes but not in mixed company.

Back to the accident, it turned out to be a squirrely trailer with cars on it that forced the truck it was pulling to flip over. A truck was towing it and lost control. Both guys in the truck were wearing seat belts and are ok.
