Veterans North Coast Stand Down This Weekend

The 6th Annual North Coast Stand Down for Veterans starts this Friday and goes through Sunday.

The Stand Down is a collection of volunteers and services for military veterans and their families.  There will be a dental lab, DMV help, live music, great food and BBQ, more services and help for veterans getting signed up for any benefits they may be eligible for. Here is what the local newspaper the Times-Standard had to say about the Stand Down.

  You don't even need a car to get there.  Just take the shuttle.  The information if below.


NORTH COAST STAND DOWN 2011 TRANSPORTATION SCHEDULE
Transportation will be available for all veterans and their families who want to attend Stand Down. The shuttle will run on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The shuttle will pick up and drop off passengers approximately every two hours. The shuttle will begin at 8 a.m. each day and run until 6 p.m.
The shuttle stops are:
• Totem Pole in McKinleyville
• Arcata Transit Center
• Eureka VA Clinic
• North Coast Veterans Resource Center
• Bayshore Mall
• Fortuna Veterans Hall
• Ferndale Fairgrounds

  1. I'm glad to see they got the dental van this year.
    I remember when we started out in '06 that was one of our goals. We weren't able to the first few years, but it's nice to see it happening now.
    Stand Down is a great program that brings veterans and the community together.
