Progressive Talk Radio Has Been Removed From All Large Cities In US

It is with a heavy heart and a sad face that I report what may be the death of commercial progressive talk radio on broadcast rstations in the US.

The radio home of Stephanie Miller in Los Angeles  will now be the new home for Rush, Hannity and other right wing blowhards.

Brad Friedman of the Brad Blog reports this afternoon:

The largest media market in the world is about to lose its only non-Rightwing commercial talk radio station. Los Angeles' KTLK 1150am will be flipped to a far Rightwing station featuring hosts like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and other rightwing talkers. "The changes are set to take effect for the first broadcast of 2014," according to the Los Angeles Times this afternoon.
KTLK is owned by Clear Channel Communications, Inc., the nation's largest owner of radio stations. Clear Channel is now owned by Mitt Romney's Bain Capital LLC. The talkers mentioned above who will be taking over the previously-progressive station are also syndicated by Clear Channel-owned Premiere Networks, the largest radio syndicator in the nation.

Changes also in store for San Francisco.

  2. The very term progressive smacks of an agenda which is going to lose credibility anyway. With the ACA , NSA, and all tthe other big governmennt boondogles, you are going to lose your audience from the get go. The only way you will get any funding is from 3Gs or the fucking Ad Council. People are tired of all the cynical gloom and doom shit.

  6. Haven't seen this yet, thanks.

It provided an eerie coincidence with the Lost Coast's new gatekeeper...Yet another (yellow journalism) rural blog site that cannot tolerate the few anonymous posts it gets from their average local folks.

  7. I don't think I follow you Anonymous 12:32 AM. I own this blog and if I were yellow like some people, I would demand a real name to leave comments on my personal blog.

  8. Sorry, I was referring to the Lost Coast/Yellow Journalism...petty crime ad nausea and rarely a story behind the mug shot, they just initiated a gate keeper and its posts plummeted along with its relevance...just like the NCJ blog, the TS, Heraldo...etc.

Don't like it? Censor it! It's all the rage today!

  9. Thanks for the clarification. I do get negative comments and as long as they aren't about other non famous people or wanting to incite violence or some other such nonsense, I just try to leave them on the blog. I find myself editing out negative comments more than the public.

I started to get caught up into that whole follow the press release, post peoples pictures thing and decided that it wasn't where this blog wanted to go. I still haven't found my niche but that's OK. I still get plenty of visitors without covering petty crime.

  10. Your videos are excellent, here's one of my favorites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5xNStofPQ0

My "progressive" friends couldn't get past the right-wing backers of "What in the World are they Spraying". However, the geo-engineering conferences reveal a chilling disregard for human impacts...regardless of who funded it. Who would be surprised, down the road, to learn that their actual experiments were far worse than imagined...

The public reality today merits extreme outrage that's deemed "too negative" by the mainstream media and many blogs and it is widely and effectively self-censored. "Negative" is half of reality, some folks argue that it's 90% and human beings use all their resources to remain cocooned in the 10%, no matter how much of the last cheap fuel and clean water it takes.

Hence, the slow pace of change....
