Paul's Live From New York Pizza Closed In McKinleyville

CVS Drug Store Chain has bought the building that currently houses Figueiredo's Video Store in Macktown. CVS started by buying Lima's Professional Pharmacy on Central Avenue in McKinleyville. Then they
bought the building across the street which used to house Don Juan's Mexican Restaurant and Paul's Live From New York Pizzeria in addition to Figueiredo's Video Store. Figueiredo's will be moving to the Safeway shopping center just up the street but Paul's Live From New York will leave Macktown all together. They still have locations in Arcata (just off the plaza) and Eureka, on 6th St.  but their pizza will be missed in points north of Arcata.

What puzzles me is  that CVS seems to think that McKinleyville needs another huge drug store. They already have Rite-Aid a block away and Cloney's is opening up in the Safeway Shopping Center.

  1. So sorry to hear. Eureka and Arcata Paul's Live from New York is not quite as good......greasy. I know, same recipes, but not as good. Maybe that can be fixed. Stlll a fan.

  2. This is a typical case of the big name chain store wanting to crush the mom and pop stores to get rid of competition so they can get a guaranteed customer base - in other words MONEY. YOUR MONEY.

  3. I'm moving my family's prescriptions to Cloney's as soon as it opens (which appears to be imminent).

  4. I've always been surprised at how well pharmacies and drug stores in general do despite the area being saturated with them.

  5. The empty space next to Ramone's has a sign up saying it will be North Coast Frozen Yogurt.

  6. Anonymous, I am assuming you are talking about the Ramone's in the Safeway Shopping Center? There is still the empty bank and also the empty store front next to Napa Auto Parts in that same complex. Sounds like it will be mostly full soon.

  7. Yes, next to Ramone's there will apparently be a yogurt shop. I'm wondering if Fig's will move into the bank location, or the old CR offices or Plaza Design. I suppose the bank makes the most sense because it's the furthest from the Redbox vending machine inside Safeway. On the other hand, Fig's being in the bank location would make it lose all of the foot traffic from Safeway and the post office.

  8. What a bummer, I love Pauls Love From New York, just called for delivery and heard the message about them closing. Had to order from the Arcata location, crossing my fingers it's just as good. Pretty sad that we need pills more than pizza pies..........
