High Winds And Power Outages
High winds on the north coast have knocked out power to people from Blue Lake, Fieldbrook all the way to the Trinidad Westhaven area. PG&E says downed power lines due to the high winds are to blame. They don't expect power to be restored until 11 PM tonight. For information on power outages in your area call 1-800-PGE-5000.

Power wasn't restored until almost 9 am this morning. Locals in Trinidad said that a redwood tree had fallen on a sub station near Blue Lake.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a confirmation on that but the length of time of the outage suggests more than downed power lines.
Nothing in today's Times-Standard newspaper about the outage that lasted more than 18 hours.
ReplyDeleteI thought they would have more on this than I do.
Oh well.
I spoke to our media contact today and
ReplyDeletePG&E said about 68-hundred people were without power locally. 5 substations were effected. The line from Blue Lake had indeed been the victim of a redwood tree. That took out power from there to Big Lagoon for a minimum of 8 hours and up to 19 hours for where I live. We must have been one of the last circuits turned back on.
