Recreational fishing, property rights, and business throughout California are at risk!

What the MLPA stands to do to local ocean sport fishing, the California Department of Fish and Game are about to do for fresh water fishing.

Introducing Bio 240.  A regulation imposed on the DFG by a judge to mitigate the spread of Quagga Mussels.  According to http://www.savecalfishing.org/, the Quagga Mussel infestation started in the Great Lakes and has spread from there to the entire United States.  The solution?  Make the owners of any fresh water lake pond,  or stream, pay for expensive environmental testing that is currently not even offered in this state if they want to stock fish.  Aquaculture businesses that grow fish for eating and stocking will also have to pay for the expensive regulations.

According to savecalfishing, an EIR done by DFG names every specie of frogs, birds, plants, fish, amphibians & reptiles, most of which are not endangered, that could be present at a pond, lake or stream.  Because many of these 80 species are wide spread through out the State, it is doubtful any body of water will be free of every single specie.

THe EIR names 35 diseases, that could be at hatcheries, that may have an adverse effect on frogs, birds, plants, fish, amphibians, reptiles and 7 invasive species, such as mussels and aquatic plants.  The DFG admits many of these diseases and invasive species are wide spread throughout California and it is doubtful any fish hatchery is free of every single disease and invasive species that could have an effect on frogs, amphibans, etc.

This will undoubtly include every pond, lake, stream and hatchery in the State.  It is very likely that no hatchery will be able to stock fish.  No body of water will be able to get a permit to stock.
The deadline to get your tests sent out of state for testing  your pond, lake or stream is September 2nd. 2010.
Phase 2 that goes after the hatcheries and aquaculture facilities starts on December 2nd. 2010.

THIS EFFECTIVELY ENDS FRESH WATER FISHING IN CALIFORNIA!
Call your Congressman, State Senator or local Assembly person and let them know the ramifications of this overbearing decision by a judge, not scientists.

Who Served In The Military?

Chickenhawks and others that chose not to serve in the military.

It's one thing to be a peace monger, but so many war mongers are quick to send others to service that they avoided.  See the list.
Oh yeah, Ted Nugent, Toby Keith and John Wayne made the "did not serve" list.

A Beautiful Day On The North Coast.

The sun was out in force today along the North Coast. These pictures are from the end of Murry Rd. in McKinleyville Ca. The Mad River is the body of water along the cliff and the river's mouth is about a mile north of where the picture was taken.
The Pacific Ocean is seen in the background beyond the sand spit.

Secret Food Spot: The Trailer

As someone that grew up in the restaurant business, I am actually somewhat qualified to write about food.

My parents owned two restaurants and my mom did catering as a full time business for decades.
I even worked as a bus boy in a 5 star restaurant in So. Cal. for several months when I was much younger. I like fancy food as much as good old comfort food. My tastes have changed over the years and I have gotten a bit more experimental with my cooking and am more likely to try something different.

But there are certain staples in my life. The taco is my all time favorite food, followed by a good cheeseburger.  I'll eat almost any style of taco and usually like it.  On the other hand, I hate getting a cheeseburger from a place that pulls it out of an insert on the steam table and then puts it in the microwave before serving it. When I can get a good burger off the grill or broiler, I am a happy guy.

A close friend at work told me about a new burger joint called The Trailer. It's usually in front of WinCo from about 8 am to about 2 in the afternoon. It has been at the Eureka Summer Concert Series on the Old Town Boardwalk for the last three Thursday nights. I have found a great, made to order, topped with fresh lettuce, tomato and onions and all the rest for about four bucks and tax. If you love a simple, slightly greasy, old fashioned cheeseburger, you have to check it out!

Jon is the owner of The Trailer and he has been in the restaurant business for years and has recently relocated to Eureka from New Zealand. I am told that the batter fries are to die for. He offers a chicken sandwich, hot or chili dog, chili fries, Philly cheese steak and breakfast.

Funny thing is, the trailer graphic says tacos. I have to say, if he had tacos, I might not have been able to tell you about the great Cheeseburgers.  I await his version of a taco with anticipation.

He says he can be booked for special events at 707-499-7146

Disclaimer: While I didn't receive any gratuity for writing this, I did get to try his Philly cheese steak when the guy at work brought one in for me. I consider this posting more of a side effect rather than a direct effect of the cheese steak since the cheese burgers are what really got me.

Exclusive: Poll Tapes, Other Evidence Discovered Missing in Long-Disputed Arizona Election

The Bradblog has once again discovered that electronic voting machines cannot be trusted.

Material sought by Election Integrity advocates from Pima County's 2006 RTA election no longer in 'secured' facility

AZ AG Terry Goddard failed to examine evidence during his criminal investigation hand-count of ballots last year...

- Special investigative report by Brad Friedman, The BRAD BLOG

Excerpt from story:
"After many years of litigation, Election Integrity advocates have now finally been allowed to review the long sought-after poll tapes in question. What they've discovered is disturbing and, so far, without legitimate explanation.

Out of 368 precincts, 112 poll tapes are completely missing. Moreover, 102 of the "yellow sheets" --- certified precinct reports, signed by poll workers, detailing corresponding summary information, such as numbers of ballots received, cast and spoiled, as helpful for important auditing functions at the precinct level --- are missing as well.

Furthermore, of the poll tape records that are not missing, 50 of them do not match the results as recorded in the final canvas of the election, according to the Election Integrity advocates who have compared them to the original electronic database numbers."

Arizona is making things up as they go along.  Please read the entire story at bradblog

Privatizing The Public Trust? MLPA Is A Bad Idea.

North Coast Enviros Blast MLPA as Evidence of Corruption Emerges

by Dan Bacher  http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2010/03/06/18640020.php

John and Barbara Stephens-Lewallen, Mendocino County's leading environmental activist couple, demanded that the Schwarzenegger administration stop the corrupt, fast-track Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) Initiative during their testimony before the MLPA Blue Ribbon Task Force for the North Coast Study Region on March 1. Their plea to halt the process was made the same week that new hard evidence of corruption in the widely-contested MLPA fiasco emerged during a Fish and Game Commission meeting in Ontario, California.

"It is our duty to defend California ocean food sovereignty while we still draw breath," the Stephens-Lewallens stated. "Public access to fisheries is a Constitutional right in California (Article 1, Section 25). We will lose this right unless we unite and assert it this year."

"You and the interests you represent would be wise to help us stop the Marine Life Protection Act Initiative (MLPAI). The MLPAI is a lose/lose/lose effort on California's North Coast, benefitting only the careerists who run the MLPAI process," they said.

The Stephens-Lewallens criticize the MLPA process for being funded by a private corporation, the Resource Legacy Fund Foundation, effectively privatizing public trust ocean resources to pave the way for offshore oil drilling, wave energy projects and corporate aquaculture.

"The Resources Legacy Fund Foundation (Foundation) and its backers will never make sustainable and respected fisheries regulations here," they said. "The Foundation will need to become more brutal and uglier in this futile effort."

They urged the task force to withdraw from the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Department of Fish and Game and the foundation that allows a process unaccountable to the public to proceed forward.

"Cindy Gustafson, please lead the Blue Ribbon Task Force in asking the Foundation and the Governor to face the fact that the MLPAI should be stopped for the good of all. This can be done by withdrawing from the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) giving all power over the MLPAI to the Foundation.

The Foundation-run MLPAI process is corrupt and deceptive from top to bottom, and will be challenged in every way if left to stand.

Cancel the MOU giving private foundations control over California's government and public fisheries! Stop the Marine Life Protection Act Initiative Now!" they concluded.

Under the MLPA process, the Kashaya Pomo Tribe will be banned from harvesting seaweed, mussels and abalone off Stewarts Point in Sonoma County as they have done for centuries. The Stephens-Lewallens and others will also be stopped from harvesting seaweed off Sea Lion Cove off Point Arena as they done for many years.
On the same day, the MLPA North Coast Regional Stakeholders Group submitted a recommendation to the MLPA Blue Ribbon Task Force on the topic of tribal uses of the ocean.

That resolution states "That the MLPA Initiative shall appropriately acknowledge that California tribes and tribal communities have aboriginal rights to take marine resources and to use and manage coastal areas for traditional subsistence, cultural, religious, ceremonial, and other customary purposes."
For more information, go to: http://www.indybay.org/newsite...

The MLPA process has drawn wide-ranging criticism from a variety of political perspectives. Dan Hamburg, former North Coast Democratic Congressman and the current Green Party Candidate for the Board of Supervisors of Mendocino County, has slammed the privatization of public trust resources that has occurred under the MLPA.

"We will work with Humboldt and Del Norte Counties to stop privatization efforts such as the Marine Life Protection Act Initiative (MLPAI) - a private foundation takeover of marine life that threatens local coastal businesses that harvest the ocean for food," vowed Hamburg.

MLPA Corruption Exposed at Fish and Game Commission Meeting

The charges of corruption and conflicts of interest that the Stephens-Lewallens have made against the MLPA Initiative were confirmed this past week by Bob Fletcher, former president of the Sportfishing Association of California. Fletcher claimed there was evidence that two members of the MLPA Blue Ribbon Task Force, Bill Anderson and Greg Schem, agreed "to sign off on everything else" in return for not putting a reserve in an area where both had marinas and business interests, according to Jim Matthews of http://www.OutdoorNewsService.com.

William (Bill) Anderson has been president and chief operating officer of Westrec Marinas since 1989. Westrec Marinas is the nation's largest owner and operator of waterfront marinas. Gregory F. Schem is president and chief executive officer of Harbor Real Estate Group, specializing in marina and waterfront real estate investments, including a marina, fuel dock, and boat yard in Marina del Rey, in addition to other California assets.

"The first wave of hard evidence documenting the corruption and conflict of interest that's guided the implementation of the 1999 Marine Life Protection Act surfaced at the meeting of the California Fish and Game Commission at the DoubleTree Inn this past week," said Matthews.

"The commission accepted public testimony again on the so-called Blue Ribbon Task Force's recommended ocean fishing closures and protected areas along the Southern California coast before adopting a final plan. During Wednesday's testimony, documentation was provided that proved that two members of the Blue Ribbon Task Force, Bill Anderson and Greg Schem, lied to the commission at a recent meeting about having a business association," according to Matthews.

"Bob Fletcher, former president of the Sportfishing Association of California who's been involved in the entire MLPA process, said there was evidence that both members agreed "to sign off on everything else" in return for not putting a reserve on the Rocky Point area between Redondo Beach and Long Beach where both had marinas and business interests," said Matthews.

There is no doubt that Anderson and Schem were appointed to the task force by Schwarzenegger to make sure that their interests weren't impacted by Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), just as Cathy Reheis-Boyd, the president of the Western States Petroleum Association was installed as the chair of the South Coast panel by the Governor to protect the oil industry, which is now seeking to expand offshore oil drilling in California waters.

As I have said many times before, there is absolutely nothing "green" about the MLPA process - and those "leaders" of the so-called "environmental" NGOs that still praise this corrupt process should finally show some integrity and ask for the MLPAcorporate greenwashing fiasco to be immediately halted!

Ted Nugent Is A Friggin' Idiot!

Ted Nugent calls Africa a ‘country’, quotes MLK to defend Tea Party

I had always suspected it but he has removed any doubt I may have had.

Update:
While I still think Ted is an idiot, I just learned that we have something besides music  and meat in common.  Neither of us has  ever served in the military!

Scientists Admit Chemtrails Are Creating Artificial Clouds

Mainstream science accepts that trails from jet aircraft are lingering for hours, but claims it is a natural phenomenon.

Prison Planet.com
Friday, July 2, 2010

Scientists now admit that emissions from aircraft are forming artificial clouds that block out the sun, precisely what geoengineering advocates like top eugenicist and White House science advisor John P. Holdren have called for, but the article tries to insinuate that the effect is caused by natural “vapours,” when in reality it can be attributed to chemtrails that contain substances harmful to humans.

“The phenomenon occurs when aircraft fly above 25,000ft, where the air temperature is around minus 30C. This causes water vapour emitted by the engines to crystallise and form the familiar white streaks across the sky, known as contrails,” writes Oliver Tree for the Daily Mail.

“Reading University’s Professor Keith Shine, an expert in clouds, said that those formed by aircraft fumes could linger ‘for hours’, depriving those areas under busy flight paths, such as London and the Home Counties, of summer sunshine.”

“Experts have warned that, as a result, the amount of sunlight hitting the ground could be reduced by as much as ten per cent. Professor Shine added: “Over the busiest areas in London and the South of England, this high-level cloud could cover the sky, turning bright sunshine into hazy conditions for the entire area. I expect the effects will get worse as the volume of air traffic increases.”

The report also makes reference to a 2009 Met Office study which found that high-level winds did not disperse contrails that later formed into clouds which covered an astonishing 20,000 miles.

Of course, this is no natural phenomenon as the article claims. Ten years ago, contrails from jet aircraft disappeared within minutes, yet apparently we are led to believe that the same substance is now causing the trails to linger for hours and form into clouds. This is impossible without something within the substance having been changed.

For those of you that think all of this is tin foil hat stuff, think again. I have had discussions with meteorologists and even someone from the National Weather Service that confirm some of these they see are impossible.

I referred to the contrails while talking to someone at the National Weather Service one day and they told me they call them chemtrails.

They admit that it is unlikely that a contrail would start an stop the way we often see them do. It is rare one guy told me for pockets of warm dry air to be surrounded by cold moist condensed air and then more warm dry air as some of these trails would suggest. Contrails are usually caused by disturbance of cold moist condensed air at high altitudes.
