County Wants Eureka Police To Take Down Occupy Eureka At Court House

This just in:

Right now, Occupy Eureka is in their nightly General Assembly. Linda Atkins of the Eureka City Council, just informed the people gathered for the assembly that the County govt. has been complaining to the Eureka City govt. about the Occupy demonstration (on the lawn of the Courthouse/Jail). The County has been requesting that the Eureka Police Department come raid, or break up, the demonstration. Linda Atkins told the General Assembly that she thinks that it is imminent- the EPD coming to shut down the demonstration.

Please come down to the courthouse tonight whenever you can. If you have a camera, great, bring it. Bring warm clothes so you can stay a while. Bring anything warm you can spare and SPREAD THE WORD. Carpool to the courthouse. Occupy Eureka is bustling every day with people talking about the Occupy movement and the problems of capitalism, inequality, and endless destruction of all things good- that have led to this movement. Nighttime is scarcer at Occupy Eureka, and it could use your presence.

Linda said she didn't know that it would be tonight but SOON. Please come out and make EPD reconsider breaking up the most visible Occupy demonstration in the County. Occupy Eureka has been set up for 26 days and nights.

Please support your local Occupy.

ALL OUT TO OCCUPY EUREKA

  1. thanks for posting this, Tom. The more it's kept in the public eye, the less likely they'll pull some extra-legal multi-juristictional raid, Oakland style. Of course EPD isn't usually embarrassed by such niceties.

  2. The problems with capitalism? What system in the history of man has done more good for more people than capitalism? Name one.

  3. Democracy is a luxury that capitalism can't afford today, don't you know? At least that's what Obama is telling the Greeks. Probably be telling the Eureka Occupier's too.

  4. On 11-03-2011 at about 10:45 am, the Eureka Police Department was contacted by an employee of Starbuck’s Coffee shop concerning a theft. The employee went on to explain that a subject identifying himself as a representative of “Occupy” solicited the employee for a donation of perishables to their cause. The request was declined and the subject stepped away from the counter. As the subject exited the store, he stole a carafe of cream from a counter and left the store.

The suspect was described as in his 20’s, wearing brown worn out Carhart pants, a light colored sweater in poor condition, and a brown knit beanie.

Officers were dispatched to the courthouse and located a carafe matching the stolen property on a table that the “Occupy” members were using for their food items. The carafe was identified by a Starbuck’s employee and recovered by an Officer. Starbuck’s wished no prosecution in the matter.

The Eureka Police Department wishes to share this information with the public, especially local business owners, in case this is not an isolated event.

From me to the Eureka Occupiers, if you need Cream or food give me a call. It is no secret where I work.
