True Cost Pricing Verses Internal Profits And External Losses

About 30 years or so I got my hands on a book by some professor in San Diego California. It was a self published book and I can't recall the title or his name but the jest of it is what this story is about.

Excerpt:
Trucost’s third big finding is the coup de grace. Of the top 20 region-sectors ranked by environmental impacts, none would be profitable if environmental costs were fully integrated. Ponder that for a moment: None of the world’s top industrial sectors would be profitable if they were paying their full freight. Zero.
That amounts to an global industrial system built on sleight of hand. As Paul Hawken likes to put it, we are stealing the future, selling it in the present, and calling it GDP.

So, if things we bought included the cost to society to make and dispose of, many people would make different choices. See more here.

Papa Wheelie's Readies For St. Patrick's Day Party

Papa Wheelie's pub in McKinleyville is getting ready for their St. Patricks Day celebration with corned beef and cabbage.

They will have their new patio (which is still under construction they have big plans), open and they will be serving libations such as a dry Irish Stout, cherry cider and their full menu for those that are not fond of corned beef and cabbage.

They will even have live music from Kindred Spirits from 8 to midnight too.
Here's what they said they have planned:

This Friday is st. Patrick's Day! We are honored to present Kindred Spirits playing live music from 8 to midnight. There's dollar off any beer if you are wearing green! And we of course will be serving corned beef and cabbage. All are welcome even the snakes!

Six Years Later And It's Getting Worse

It seems fitting that someone post something about a new anniversary we seem to have gotten used to. I haven't heard much from anywhere today about the uncontrolled meltdowns at Fukushima
except for a couple of posts from a friend or two on facebook. This video will just sort of get you up to date on the disaster. There are much scarier ones if you want to actually delve into the subject on youtube.
Happy Anniversary everybody. And I do mean everybody.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Radiothon Eureka Ca.

The Bicoastal Media FM music stations in Eureka Ca. are doing their annual 2 day radiothon to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis Tennessee.

KKHB-FM, Cool 105.5 FM at www.cool1055.com , KRED-FM Big Red Country 92.3 and 98.3 FM at www.kred923.com and KFMI aka Power 96.3 FM at www.power963.com are in the middle of their first day of fund raising going both today and tomorrow from 6 am to 7 pm on all 3 stations.

You can help by donating when you call 1-800-942-8771 and become a "Partner in Hope".  If they ask which station you are listening to, tell them Tom Sebourn sent you, the guy from KGOE. Don't worry, I don't get a cut of the action. It all goes to St. Jude.
